Case study / Food and dining platform / Web and CMS
Alacarta
Web, CMS and user experience design for a platform bringing together food content, places and products.
Context and scope
Content and catalog within one experience.
For Alacarta, I worked on web design, CMS design and user experience. The proposal connects food articles with a places guide and product catalog, maintaining a shared structure between sections.
Large photography highlights the lead stories on the homepage. Navigation separates articles, restaurants, wine content, recipes and the guide, creating different entry points into the content.

Editorial design
A grid with room for different formats.
Cards combine an image, category, title and introduction. The composition accommodates articles, interviews, events and promotional spaces without giving them equal visual weight.
On article pages, an opening image introduces the story and text follows a defined column. Supporting and related content accompanies the reading experience without interrupting its sequence.

Guide and catalog
From exploring a place to viewing a product.
Place listings combine photography, descriptions and practical details. Catalog views organize products into cards with a prominent image and an action leading to the detail page.
Red-orange highlights headings, links and buttons on light and dark surfaces. Alignment and recurring components connect the editorial and commercial areas.

Mobile experience
A clear sequence for reading and shopping.
Mobile views reorganize the header, content and listings into one column. On product pages, the image, price, quantity and purchase action form a recognizable sequence.
The form groups the information needed to continue a purchase. The design distinguishes input fields from the main action while keeping the selected product visible.

CMS design
Designing for the people who manage content, too.
The scope included the content management system's design alongside the public website experience, bringing the needs of the people organizing and maintaining the platform's information into the project.
This case study shows public-facing views: homepage, articles, guide, catalog and purchase flow. Their variety illustrates the different content types within Alacarta.
